I WAITED...AND THE SUN WOKE UP......

For Gospel Praise Friday, I decided to 'stir the gifts up' a bit.....
Enjoy....

Freedom Always begins and ends from within.....

RENEE MARIE this woman of honor, and integrity stood up IN FRONT OF ALL these people and sang .....
My sisters and brothers, this is freedom...

This blew me away. Absolutely MAGNIFICENT!
I am going to have to learn this New and Improved version of both these wonderful songs. Also to look and see if she or someone has actually recorded her singing it.
And people say they don't see miracles everyday.
HUmmmmm, guess they are not looking for them.....

What do you think about this?

i rememebr reading about this.

i think renee marie did an absolutely fantastic job with the national black anthem. i think it was superb, and it's also the first time i've ever heard the song.

what's funny is - i noticed how some of the white people onstage looked very uncomfortable. i noticed how the black man had this look of 'oh lord...' upon his face. but the most interesting reaction i witness came from the white audience members.

they were pleased with the song (not that they probably knew what it was). all they know is that a beautiful song had just been performed by an incredible and soulful singer.

i guess it just goes to show that racism is taught.

hello don and felicity,

glad to see you :D

now don, you need to go and find that song in it's created melody and listen to the masterpiece that God gave james weldon johnson.

his gift was without doubt from God. all the music He created was out of the borders of oppresion and uplifted the people.

all the people.

so many people are in a stink about what ms marie did--i don't understand their negativity--and really don't care about it.

i am reminded everyday that some of us can see what is not evident yet to others.
and one that stands for change usualy stand alone...in the beginning...

i hope they recorded her version--i would love to own a copy.

same thing i was thinking about someone needing to record her version. it was a very powerful rendition. i felt her emotion. especially around the 2:15 mark in the video.

i did a blog post about it. and i finally took time to YouTube the original version of the song.

Thanks for sharing.

Wisdom.

I heard this (well, at least a snippet of it) when Ms. Martin was shown on the news singing it.

That she sung Johnson's "Lift Ev'ry Voice And Sing' to the tune of "The Star Spangled banner" was brilliant and spectacular on Ms. Martin's part.

You are right. Some people ragged on Ms. Martin because they were expecting to hear the same ol' tired/worn-out, out of sync version among many of the Banner, but, instead Ms. Martin wowed and amazed them, not to mention, she shocked them out of their complacency (well, those who were paying attention and listening to the words underneath the melody.)

You do not see (or better yet, *hear*) miracles like this every day.

We must all enjoy them when we have the privilege of being witness to true faith and beliefs in the ideals on which this country was founded.

I sure hope there is an authorized (with Ms. Martin's permission) recording of this beautiful rendition of the "Star Spangled/Lift Ev'ry Voice And Sing Banner".

It was sung from the heart and soul.

Peace.

Oh, I also noticed the "oh...Lord" look on the black man behind Ms. Martin, as well as the white woman next to him, with the befuddled look, but, most of all....the white man with his right hand over his heart

He was hearing *two songs*.

I wonder if he realized that at the time?
